Resilience in the face of a storm

In a new series of quarterly research, we track the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the telecoms sector through a range of metrics. We also highlight examples of operator activity to demonstrate how the sector is responding and adapting to the crisis, including the spike in data usage as a result of home working, entertainment consumption and advanced services for the SME, corporate and public sector markets to support resilience and digital transformation. As we are tracking operator results, this first edition covers the three-month period ending March (Q1), with a focus on the five countries worst affected by Covid-19 as of 31 March: Italy, Spain, the US, France and China. The next edition will cover Q2 results – the first full period of pandemic influence – and will be published in August.
